3D PONT, Objectivity exhibition, Urbis Museum, Manchester 2004

I flew to Manchester some three days after installing a 3D Point at the Palach Square in Prague, which meant I was out of the city amid all the furore. I just had a lot of people calling me on the phone. The Piece in Manchester was basically a small-scale copy of what I had done in Prague. It is unbelievabble that I completed it in one week, whilst the other slightly bigger one in Prague took me almost three months to make. Being experienced really does speed work up. While the piece in Prague lasted three weeks without any permit, this one only survived a day. What happened is that we refused to exhibit inside and the museum would only let us have our pieces outside for a single day. So the next day – I was with Zasd and Akim from Berlin, we wanted to install the pieces somewhere in the city, illegaly. We were shocked when we found our objects broken and in the bin. The curator had got worried because Manchester is a small city and it would not have taken much to find out the culprits, which could have caused problems for the museum too. Although I understand why it all happend and appreciate being invited to Manchester, but in the end I have to say that it was a dirty trick. Dear curators, you will never have it easy with writers.
