Bird Point, Williamsburg, Brooklyn, New York 2008

This is one of the two Bird Points which I took with me to New York. What is special about it is that I painted it all in one colour and asked KR to give it a drip patina. When placing Points around Prague I carry a huge ladder on top of my car, for easy access. I was surprised how difficult it was to get hold of a long ladder in New York. There were two access routes to this chimney. It would have been easier and much quicker with a ladder. Having no ladder was going to require climbing up several private roofs and the whole operation would have taken much longer, which would have made it much more likely for me to raise attention. So I spent the whole two weeks trying to get hold of a ladder, but it was fruitless. When I came across someone with one, they lived in the Bronx, and it would have taken a whole day to transport it to Brooklyn and back. It was the last evening and I still had no ladder, and my Point would have been wasted in NY. I had no other choice than to pretend to be a Ninja and use the other route. It was the presidential elections that evening and Obama, whom we supported, came out as the winner, so all that there was left to do is to celebrate it all.
