3D POINT, Karacharovo, Moscow 2009

I spent three weeks in the Karacharovo district working on the 60 Details project. I made the polystyrene Points, which I was placing around Moscow, right there in Karacharovo. This was my last piece, an extra one, made out of scope of my "work". I wanted to leave a mark there. You would think that in a suburban district where supermarkets sell 30 different kinds of vodka but no oranges or onions, it would last for a while. That’s a false belief. In fact, this is another of my Points that existed only for a day. In the streets of Moscow there are many sweepers and cleaners who work for minimum wage, value their job and fear losing it. These people have migrated from distant and poor countries and if they lost their work they would have to leave Moscow. They all fiercely protect the territory they clean and make sure it is tidy. I actually caused a problem for a sweeper from Kazakhstan and he could have lost his job because of me having fun. Sorry, mate, but I couldn’t help it.
