3D POINT, MUBE (Museum Brasileiro da Escultura), Sao Paulo

Although I thought that I would not be making any more Point sculptures, Binho invited me to Sao Paulo for the 1st graffiti biennial in South America. And of course, he wanted me to build a 3D graffiti, not paint the walls like the majority of others. What else could I do than accept the challenge? On top of that I had been invited to a country which I love. In Brazil things happen in a different rhythm than we are accustomed to in Europe, I already knew that, but I must say that this time I went through a real spiritual test. Their main motto is tranquilidade – tranquillity. For a Central-European like me this can sometimes be a big problem. That’s why I value this Point a lot. The flight ticket was booked only fifteen days before the official opening, and I only arrived to the place ten days before, with a sole MDF board and no tools at my disposal. Seven days before the opening I had three boards, some basic tools but no extension lead. Five days before the opening I had both tools and an extension lead, but the boards had run out. Every day I fought a battle for my dream to come true and I think had I not spoken any Portuguese, I would not have been able to cope. As you can see, I managed in the end. Thanks to all those who helped. (I do wonder where my urge to make life complicated both for myself and others comes from).
