Tron, Pasta a Kalab, DOX, Praha

Together with Tron and Pasta we got the opportunity to paint this gorgeous new facade. DOX is a centre for contemporary art in Prague, a private institution which has recently, to a degree, taken on the function of the stagnating National Gallery. This venue is visited by the entire local art community; it’s a so called hot spot. I am not naive to think that Valka, the director of DOX, is enthusiastic about our stuff. He basically figured out that graffiti would sooner or later turn up on their new facade. He simply opted for the lesser of the evils and approached Pasta. Painting such stuff in the autumn is more of a punishment, given the local climate. It rains a lot and paint doesn’t dry because of the cold. In this case we were extremely lucky, and although it was cold, it rarely rained for the whole week and we managed to have it done in five days. It rained non-stop the week after, and in the following one one it started to snow. That really was a last minute job! We were limited by certain strict colours and we were asked to paint the facade but not too rigurously. (ideally under the windows only). Despite this we made it work and the result is more than satisfactory.
